WEEK 5: April 14-20, 2024

This week I felt guilty about thinking about buying skin cream. I used up all the extra cream I had at home, including a scented little bottle that had me scratchin’ after I used it! I had to revisit my approved list of spending to review it so I could tell myself it was ok. Replacing shampoo and cream is on my approved list, if I use up what I have at home. I was raised to buy stuff like cream, shampoo, toilet paper, etc. when it was on sale.  Sometimes I would buy two of a product because it was on sale. I had to organize my extra supplies a couple of times a year, just to be aware of my 7 tubes of toothpaste, or my 3 bottles of shampoo. To slim down multiple products in my small space, and to be less excessive, I am using up products before I buy more, and try to only buy what I need. Things like cream, shampoo, and soap all go on sale frequently, so I am trying to turn off my desire to over-buy. Friends were discussing taking a trip to Iceland in September, but I opted out, wanting to focus on camping and my finances. I would like to have any trips I go on saved up for before I leave. In the past, I would put everything on my credit card, and then slowly paid it off over many months. That is not a habit I wish to start again. I am enjoying much more time in my day, now that I am not online browsing or shopping, and since I removed Facebook and Instagram from my phone and iPad. I finished two books this week and did longer dog walks. I’ve found that I am getting out of bed much more quickly in the mornings since I am not checking FB and IG or watching reels!

Spending this week: I reserved a Moraine Lake shuttle for SUPing on my birthday in July with a great friend. I booked camping with my dog and my sister’s dog for 3 nights in August. We got a site right on the lake, close to Revelstoke, BC. I am very excited! My summer is all planned for camping trips; one more may still be added with a few girlfriends. I bought groceries, paid for my gym membership, electricity bill, and the monthly website host package. Alfie has his full groom. I went to the movies with a friend, and she gave me a coupon for the movie, so I only had to pay for popcorn!  I ordered pizza on Friday night from Panago.

MONEY SAVED: 58% I saved 58% this week.MONEY SPENT: 42% This week’s money was spent on camping in August, my gym membership, electric bill, groceries, pizza, popcorn, Alfie’s full groom, and my website host package monthly charge.

My dad's favourite saying was, "A fool and their money soon part", so hence my website name. I recently (March 2024) began a shopping ban, and would like to blog about that, life with a doodle, grief and personal therapies, and my Bleeding disorder. I am excited to start writing for you, and am interested on your thoughts on my writing!
