MONTH 6: August 18-September 21, 2024

This month I turned my spare room into an office with a twin bed. I sold a lot of stuff—furniture I didn’t need after I completed my decluttering & Swedish Death Cleaning. I donated and consigned clothes that didn’t fit and clothes I don’t wear anymore. I reduced the amount of bedding and blankets I have and went through all my papers and made a giant pile to shred. My condo feels a lot more spacious and less assaulting to the eyes. I used the money I received from my excess furniture to purchase an IKEA desk in As Is, and an end table to match. My new workspace in the spare room is my new favourite place and allows me to keep the living room/kitchen for cooking and watching TV. It is so nice to have a designated desk space to study.

MONEY SAVED: 17% I saved 17% this month in my pet emergency, winter tire fund, and RRSPs accounts.MONEY SPENT: 83% This month’s money was spent on the usual monthly bills for rent, phone, cable, streaming services, electricity, church donations, groceries, gym membership, 1-2 eating out per week, insurance, dog grooming and food, hospital parking. Special expenditures for the month include a previously owned desk, desk chair, and desk top protectors at IKEA, a textbook for a course, a haircut, a year-long Moleskine daytimer, a Moleskine book for my course, and a day pass for paddleboarding in Kananaskis.

Born & raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where we had beef cows, pigs, a pony, a rabbit or two, always a dog, and many cats. My dad's favourite saying was, "A fool and their money soon part", so hence my website name. I recently (March 2024) began a shopping ban, and would like to blog about that, life with a doodle, grief and personal therapies, and my Bleeding disorder. I am excited to start writing for you, and am interested on your thoughts on my writing!
