Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is Angie and I live in Calgary. I decided to start a 3-month shopping ban after I read Cait Flanders’ book, The Year of Less”. I have had health struggles since I was a child, and I often got myself a little treat after a surgery or a procedure. It has been a life-long habit, and then I think it just became my normal. I owed a lot of money in student loans when I finished university, and added to it with consumer debt. I got complacent about “using” the money available on credit cards. Until my dad passed. When his estate was settled, I was able to pay off all of my debt and decided never to have debt again. My shopping ban is my way to stay accountable in starting new spending & saving habits and a change in mindset over money (and trying to change my thoughts of what I deserve after medical procedures). Please follow my journey!

Born & raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where we had beef cows, pigs, a pony, a rabbit or two, always a dog, and many cats. My dad's favourite saying was, "A fool and their money soon part", so hence my website name. I recently (March 2024) began a shopping ban, and would like to blog about that, life with a doodle, grief and personal therapies, and my Bleeding disorder. I am excited to start writing for you, and am interested on your thoughts on my writing!
