MONTH 3: May 19-June 22, 2024

+ WEEK June 16-22

June 16-22: This week was Alfie’s annual vet appointment. In the past, I would have charged the amount and then stressed about how much money was on my credit card for months. This year, I have a funded pet emergency fund, so at the vet I charged his appointment, came home and transferred the amount from the vet account to my credit card. It was zero stress, and I felt a huge relief for days.

I ordered pizza this week and had a bubble tea out. My website monthly fee came out, and I canceled camping for this Sunday. I had a migraine or a splitting headache for most of the week, so I am unable to do anything except a dog walk and rest/nap. I have no energy to set up a campsite, cook or clean up after. Almost the whole $96 was refunded onto my card.

MONTH 3 overview: This month, the largest amount of money went to food: eating out and on groceries. I have been eating way too much junk food: chips, candy, chocolate. I need to cut way back on that indulgence, as my heartburn started up again. I had a bleeding ulcer about 5 years ago, and usually only have issues when I over-indulge on sugar. My sister also gets heartburn from too much sugar. It’s so hard because I have a major sugar addiction…

Bills this month: I had rent, my donation to my dad’s church, car insurance, home insurance, gym membership, electricity bill, Apple iCloud storage, Shaw bill, Bell Mobility/Rogers bill, Disney, Netflix & Prime Memberships, my sister and nephew’s birthday gifts, RRSP, and Alfie’s food, vet, and groom.

I purchased: medications and toiletries, groceries, a Pilates class, gas for Edmonton and back, protein powder for smoothies, 1-2 meals out per week (except for the Week of June 2-8, where I purchased 3 meals out), parking at the hospital and for the conference in Edmonton, Alfie’s 3 balloon and cupcake/icing ingredients for his party, 50/50 tickets for the Oilers, and the air conditioner for the condo this summer.

I got my CDN government Climate Action Refund, and the refund for camping this weekend.

MONEY SAVED: 31% I saved 31% this month, in my savings account, RRSPs, and my pet emergency fund. .MONEY SPENT: 69% This month’s money was spent on groceries and eating out, parking at hospitals and the conference in Edmonton, prescriptions, monthly bills: cell phone, Enmax, Shaw cable & internet, my dad’s church donation, gym membership, gas, car and home insurance, Alfie’s groom and food. I got an iPad that I got when my dad died in 2021; I’ve started to use it to read ebooks, and will take it camping this summer, so I decided to get the same screen protector as my iPhone. I sent etransfers to my sister and my nephew for their birthdays. I also bought a used air conditioner for the condo from friends who are moving.

My dad's favourite saying was, "A fool and their money soon part", so hence my website name. I recently (March 2024) began a shopping ban, and would like to blog about that, life with a doodle, grief and personal therapies, and my Bleeding disorder. I am excited to start writing for you, and am interested on your thoughts on my writing!
