Update May 11, 2024

I had an eye appointment last week, and my progressive prescription doubled. My current frames are not going to be able to hold a combined prescription of -8, as they are stretched quite a bit now. I picked out a new frame for glasses and a new frame for prescription sunglasses. I also did my taxes last week, and will get a refund, to almost the exact amount of my new glasses. So, I will end up even for the tax refund and the glasses purchase. My optician had a BOGO deal on lenses, so that helps!

I was finding my calculations were tricky as I am paid once per month and certain bills come out during different weeks of each month. I have decided to streamline my calculations, or gazintas, as Grammie Annie would say, to make sure I focus on money spent outside my regular bills. Now, I will do a monthly spending update. I think this will allow me to focus more on any money outside recurring bills.

The week of May 5th-11th was a tricky one. I had been doing so well with not shopping or being tempted, but this week was hard. I am not sure if it’s because I was sad (my dad’s brother passed, my friend’s mom passed after a car accident, and it is my my dad’s birthday this upcoming week–he passed in 2021). I didn’t break my shopping ban rules, but found myself on online shopping sites that I haven’t been on in weeks. Since shopping has been my therapy for over two decades, it needs some reinforcement not to regress to that pattern.

My dad's favourite saying was, "A fool and their money soon part", so hence my website name. I recently (March 2024) began a shopping ban, and would like to blog about that, life with a doodle, grief and personal therapies, and my Bleeding disorder. I am excited to start writing for you, and am interested on your thoughts on my writing!
