Good news! Thanks to Maeve’s comment, I was able to cancel my purchase of the Lose It! app! They reversed the $54 on my credit card! Thanks Maeve.
I have been thinking about my spending habits over the last 20 years. I try not to live with regret; For those who know me well, I am a person who decides to do something, and am happy with my choice. I rarely deliberate something for days, weeks, or months. (I will let my sister do that for both of us!) Lately, since deciding to start a shopping ban, I am feeling frustrated at myself that I didn’t do this 10, 15, even 20 years ago. I could have saved tens of thousands of dollars; I could have gone on some unique trips; I could have put a lot more into retirement savings; I wouldn’t have to keep decluttering as my condo is an assault to many people’s eyes, as there is so much stuff. What do I have to show for those tens of thousands of dollars? Clothes. Shoes. Tons of “stuff” in my condo. As I try not to live with self-doubt or regretting my choices, I am working on turning that regret into motivation to keep changing my mindset and to stop spending like I used to.
This week was a big week for bills; Shaw cable/internet, rent, donations to my dad’s church and for our community’s dog & human water fountain at our dog park, website monthly fee, and cell phone bill.
I sold a few things on Facebook Marketplace: my bike rack that fit my old Rav4, a tennis skort, and some puzzles for kids. I had money for a U of C course go back on my credit card—I changed my mind about a class that was going to run in July.
MONEY SAVED:18% I saved 18% this week. | MONEY SPENT: 82% This week’s money was spent on medication and gas at Costco, toiletries, popcorn and pop at a movie a friend invited me to, a supper at McDonald’s and one at Subway, ice for the fundraiser at the dog park, and a coffee at Tim Horton’s for a migraine. I paid money on my credit card for the camping this summer (I thought I did that last week but must have forgotten!). |
