Week of June 31-July 6 Update

I broke my blender this week. Not an easy thing to do, but once it started smoking, I unplugged it and started looking at flyers. There was a set (food processor single use blender cup, large blender crushing pitcher) available at Costco for $155, so I bought it. I think it will be super useful, as I can use it to cut veggies, mix dough, and make smoothies.

Since I’d lost 20 lbs over the last few years, I needed some new sports bras. The old ones are way too big. I found two on Marketplace and one half off on Lulu. So now I am set and I will sell my too-big ones on Marketplace.

I booked the ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo and Victoria to Vancouver. Now the Victoria camping trip is booked and paid for except for food and gas!

I started decluttering this week. I went through the filing cabinet and started to go through the kitchen cabinets. I recycled a lot of unnecessary papers and have given a few things away on the Buy Nothing group: a big stack of 8.5×11 paper, a slow-eater and licking mat for a dog. I started to go through some of my summer clothes and am setting clothes aside to donate that are too big or clothes I haven’t worn in ages.

This week I changed my cell phone case to another one that I’d bought off Facebook Marketplace last year. It made me really happy, like buying something new used to. Maybe that’s my secret, to change things up (that I already own). When I was a little girl, I moved my room around and changed things a lot. It made me excited, even though my room was teeny and you couldn’t make too many changes! I remember going to a girl’s house who was in my Girl Guides group; she had a little reading area in a corner of her—much larger—bedroom. I had to do one too, in my closet of a room. Changing things brought me joy. I think that’s why I love buying new things.

Money this week was spent on Amazon Prime membership, two Marketplace bras and one half price on Lulu’s We Made too Much, meds at Costco, pharmacy meds, a sub at Subway, a Vietnamese sub at Rau Bistro, and onion rings, a burger & a milkshake. I had an infusion this week and had no energy so I didn’t make as many meals as I should have. I will do better next week.
